Like most companies, the story of Radwell International is one of humble beginnings. The company story began 38 years ago in Mount Laurel, NJ and has survived and thrived through many changes. Brian Radwell, too, has gone through his share of challenges, both personal and professional. To read the detailed story of Radwell, you can check out this blog post The Story of Radwell.

To truly understand the Radwell story, you have to understand a little bit about Brian Radwell's motivation, which stems from supporting his father who was the kindest man in the world according to many people within the company who knew him when he was alive. I had the rare opportunity to ask Brian Radwell a question about fear of failure and the family culture of giving back .

“There are no new ideas. There are only new ways of making them felt.” -Audre Lorde

Being successful in business is a challenging experience. The pace is fast, you can be hit from all angles, and anything can happen on any given day. In almost every instance you are surrounded by competitors. All you want to do is continue to move forward and provide the service or product that your business offers in a productive and profitable way. What is it that differentiates your business from every other company out in the world offering a similar product or service? Maybe your branding is more skillful. Perhaps you use technology in a more impactful way. It’s possible you even execute better than competitors. But in almost every business, the differentiating factor truly is the customer service you provide to your clients. If your business operates with customer service as a priority, it is most likely standing out and hopefully moving forward in a positive way.

Of course everyone preaches that they are customer driven. It would be foolish for a business not to say such a thing if they hope to continue to operate successfully. But what does customer driven really translate to? What does it mean?

The key is to set realistic customer expectations, and then not to just meet them, but to exceed them — preferably in unexpected and helpful ways. – Richard Branson

Customer service, by definition, is the provision of service to customers before, during, and after a purchase. It is also how a product is delivered to a customer. During the many points of customer contact your company may have, it is important to evaluate performance. Is your product (or service) accessible? Is it easy to gain access? Is it cost-effective/provide value? Does it meet (or hopefully exceed) the customer’s expectations for that product or service?

Radwell in Latin America

People may not realize that Radwell International has a dedicated Latin American division to support our customers. This division consists of a specialized Bilingual Customer Focused Team which handles and secures the quality and timely delivery of products. In addition, we have an inside/outside sales department, tasked with building relationships and meeting with customers to satisfy their product needs. Finally, we have a Bilingual Marketing Assistant, who coordinates tradeshows and supports sales efforts.

Today, Radwell sells industrial electronic products to 18 Latin American countries and we are hoping to add one more country to the list, as we witness the United States rebuild diplomatic relations with Cuba. Each year, we try to participate in at least two major tradeshows in Latin America. Some of the main benefits of attending these tradeshows are the opportunities to meet with existing and new customers in one place. In addition, tradeshows allow Radwell to make different strategies and competitive agreements.

Social Media has taken the world by storm over the last decade and only recently have businesses begun to utilize it to connect with their customers in more than a “here’s our product” sort of way. Customers, especially the younger generations, want to feel like they are part of something, not just buying a product. This is where social media becomes a significant tool for marketing. If done correctly, it connects your followers to the spirit of your company. They connect with your company and feel like they are part of something more.

Here at Radwell, we took a big leap into social media five years ago. It went from a quick post on Facebook, to becoming one of our marketing pillars.

As automation capability continues to grow and strengthen in the workplace, many are wondering if humans will be left out in the cold when it comes to employment. It seems that people and experts sit on  both sides of the fence in this argument. Some believe, with absolute certainty, that robots will take over up to 30% of jobs currently performed by humans within the next ten years. Others feel it is unlikely that robots will be able to evolve quickly enough to emulate humans in the most important way: our ability to respond to other humans. Still others believe that robots and humans will work together to make the process of manufacturing a team-oriented and more efficient exercise. Each of the view points is fairly compelling and it will be interesting to see which viewpoint holds the most merit as the decade progresses.

So, are robots kicking humans to the curb?
